The Dutch striker has recalled the time he spent with the English giants as a cherished memory and expressed that it was fantastic to play for them.
The Malaga forward was full of praise for his former club and insisted that there is nothing better than representing the Red Devils in a competitive match. He added that the Premier Leauge supporters make United one of the greatest football clubs of all
time.
Van Nistlerooy wore the red of Manchester for a duration of 5 years, from 2001 to 2006. He was signed from Dutch outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752’s side for £19 million and he soon became a great hit at the Old Trafford.
The Dutchman scored a total of 150 goals for United and will be remembered by their faithful as one of the best strikers around.
It will not be wrong to conclude that Van Nistlerooy spent the peak of his career at Manchester United.
After a reported rift between the striker and Sir Alex Ferguson, he moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2006. Although he was considered as a great signing at the time by Los Blancos, he failed to maintain his form with them.
By the end of his first season with Madrid, the player had started to show signs of deterioration and the age factor appeared to get to him. Health problems and injury-related issues constrained the forward to appear for Real on a regular basis.
At the completion of his fourth season with Los Vikingos, the player joined German Bundesliga outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485. After spending 18 months with the German side, he was signed by Malaga as a free transfer.
It was at the Andalusian club that the Dutchman showed that his career was not over yet as he impressed many by good performances on and off.
While reflecting on his time with the Red Devils, the player was quoted as saying:
"It was a fantastic five years, it was crazy, all of the games that we played in the league, in the cups and in the Champions League. The fans were really special. From the first day onwards it was there and it just gives you that extra 10 or 20 per cent
on the pitch, home and away. The away fans were always there and firing the team on, and individual players as well."
"After the games we would always celebrate together and we made a point of going over to thank them for their support."
At the age of 35, Ruud Van Nistlerooy continues to play for Malaga and has made a positive impact with the club so far.
