Playing for a movie soundtrack?

I'm going to be a sophomore in high school this coming school year and picked up the flute in 8th grade. I've had a great deal of success in doing so and have really fallen in love with playing.

So, I'm interested in how you become a musician that plays on movie soundtracks.

Please and thank you. :)

  1. I know someone who plays on movie soundtracks, and it seems to be a matter of putting yourself out there as much as possible and getting your playing noticed by people who score for movies.

I'd suggest following an education is music as far as you can, and playing with as many bands and orchestras as you can. Develop your own style, be versatile, and above all else be reliable and easy to work with. Apart from improving your musicianship, you're going to meet and hopefully impress lots of people, and personal recommendations tend to go a lot further than demo CDs, letters and resumes.

    Good luck.

  2. it is good that you have found something to go with. i still can't decide my future career. band for me, i love it, but i don't think it's something i'm going to be doing for my life, but that's just me facing reality.

i would say, participate in marching band, your school's concert/wind ensemble, and then strive to get a scholarship in performing arts.

while playing in college, i'm sure many more oppurtunities will pop up for you. as the above person mentioned, you need to be noticed.

so don't get your hopes up of playing for movie soundtracks now, you're still very young, and there are many talented musicians out there with much more experience than you that are turned down the oppurtunity to play.

so just be patient, but don't give up.

    goodluck sweetie.
