Playing games in a window?

I want to play Medieval 2 Total War in a window, so I can do other things while it's in the backround (for some reason, I can't minimize out of the game when it's running, it's annoying) anyone have any ideas? It's a windows vista gaming computer, bought it brand new from Alienware for $2000.00. I saw my friend do it, so I know it's possible.

  1. While you're in the game, there must be a video options/settings, change it so you have it in a windowed screen.

  2. usually press the 'Alt + Tab' together to minimize the game in order to get back to desktop.

Do you mean that you can't minimize by pressing the mentioned key?

If not, sorry I don't understand what you mean - sorry.

  3. go on the desktop icon and rightclick--properties--and if there is a thing called TARGET under ther shortcut tab and under target type and location. change fullscreen1 to fullscreen 0

  4. This doesn't work for all games, but it's worth a shot. If you don't already have a shortcut for the game, make one. Right click it and edit properties. In the shortcut tab, add a space and "-window" to the end of "target".
