Playing guitar and lessons?

i really want to learn how to play guitar..im relearning how to play piano right now because i stopped for a while. does anyone have any recommendations if i should just buy a guitar and learn myself or if i should go to an actual teacher??? thanks..i live in california so if anyone knows any good teachers...thanks!

If you want to master the instrument, you need to take lessons. If, however, you just want to learn some chords so you can strum and sing, then buy a guitar and teach yourself. There are a lot of good free lessons on You Tube, but a would recommend a personal teacher if you are going to go the lesson route.
