Question:

Playing guitar standing up (electric)?

How come I have such a hard time playing guitar standing up? I know that its easier to play sitting down because the guitar is closer. But I dont get why its so hard for me to play standing up. After I play a couple of songs (badly) my wrist starts to kill me and I have to stop. I tried strapping the guitar higher for easiness but it just plain looks ridiculous and I wanna look cool while playing (who doesnt?).

I have seen most people wrap heir their thumbs around the neck of the guitar but my thumb is always behind the neck.

Any tips for me?

  1. strap the guitar up as high as you need to play properly if you feel you need to lower it do it a little bit at a time over time

  2. while its like learning how to play the guitar again isnt it lol but you are using muscels you dont usually use and they get tired easily and thats why you get the pain. I my self am having the same problems but im just going to play through the pain and see if that will eventually work. good luck

  3. You can look cool and sound horrible or you can look and sound like a person who actually knows how to play guitar. I generally go for sound.
