I think I already know the answer to this question, but just want to seek some reassurance.

I am in the third week of a co-ed fall softball league and just found out I am pregnant. I signed up to play, not thinking we would get pregnant so quickly. I play in left field or second base typically. I am thinking softball is a no, but did anyone play while pregnant? The only way I could justify it is if I always playing in the outfield and have pinch runners. Even with those stipulations, I don't know if I can justify the cause. Any thoughts...

  1. It's a little risky. What if you got hit in the tummy? or you collided with an opponent and your baby got hit? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't risk that. And I LOVE the game...

  2. As much as you love the game, its your child you must think about.

I think its better for you not to play softball as it may have risks and dangers against getting hit or hurt during the game.

It's not worth it at all to risk the life of your child.

    Hope this answers.

  3. I work in a gym and this lady comes in to run the treadmill everyday.  Suddenly I began to notice she was pregnant.  Her belly is getting bigger and bigger but she still keeps running.

  4. Talk with your Dr. about any restrictions.  My wife's OB/GYN years ago said anything you were doing before you became pregnant you can continue doing.  The only danger I can see is if you get hit in the stomach by a hit or thrown baseball.

  5. I'd say no. I know that's not what you want to hear but his is your future child we're talking about.  You never know what is going to happen. You could get hit and that's the end of your pregnancy.  Don't risk it.  You can still do workouts that your doctor recommends but it isn't likely you'll get hit with a softball while running on a treadmill.  Ask if you can be a manager or something so you can still be involved with the team.

  6. who told you that you can't run while pregnant?

  7. I think you are overreacting some.  Depending how far along you are, it could still be fine to play for now.

  8. Just make sure if you slide, do it head first into one of the base spikes!
