i just start to play the guitar... should i learn scales?

anytips. and any book that's good

  1. Here's what I did, and it might not work for everyone, but it worked for me:

    I just learned a p**p load of songs by other people. Just play everything you want to learn, and eventually you will develop an ear for not only hearing songs, but you will have a better feel of what each note on the fretboard sounds like. When you feel comfortable playing songs and are able to figure out songs by ear, that's when you should learn scales. It will make them so much easier, and you will be able to identify them in songs.

    That's all hypothetically speaking of course, and I'm not saying it's the best method, but it worked well for me.


  2. You need to get a teacher, take lessons, and practice like crazy.  That's the best tip.

  3. you should learn scales and chords. start by learning the basic "cowboy chords" that are really low on the neck, and then learn the major and pentatonci scales. learning these really helps develop your dexterity, which is an important part of playing guitar. to keep it fun, learn a few songs you like. best of luck.
