Playing the sousaphone/tuba?

ok I'm playing the sousaphone in marching band I switched from clarinet but I have A bit of trouble getting anything below an f.what can I do so I can hit lower notes?

  1. Relax and blow slow warm air (like fogging up a mirror).  Make sure that your jaw is open wide.  You can't play low with a closed jaw.  Also kep the lips relaxed.  Good Luck!


  2. do long tones and relax. the more open your throat is the lower you will go.

    uhmm. the only brass instrument i've ever played before is a mellaphone.....and the one thing i learned is to PUSHHH the air. it is so weird.

    but it was fun!
