The 27-year-old cricketer, who will be leading England for the first time in Test cricket, admitted that his side struggled against slow bowling and understands that handling spinners will be the key against India.
"We know how important playing spin is," Cook said. "We did struggle in UAE, but the amount of work we did towards the latter part of the tour and then in Sri Lanka, we need to get as close to that point as soon as we can and build
from there. Because we know how important playing spin is and how important first-innings runs are."
Having lost the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at home, the Poms lost their number one ranking in international cricket earlier this year. There were reports of lack of unity in the England dressing room; however, the left-handed opener
is trying his best to reunite the team, which will be extremely important during a tough series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and company.
"Clearly we know how important team spirit and team harmony is because that is where all our strength has been in the last couple of years and it shows in the results," the England captain expressed.
