Playoff berth, AFC South win: Houston Texans re-write history – NFL News
The Houston Texans are done with the season as far as renewal of their previous year’s records are concerned – they are through to the playoffs and have won the American Football Conference (AFC) South division – refreshing the history they wrote a season
earlier by reaching these two heights for the first time in their league’s run.
In 2011, the team led by rookie offence leader T.J. Yates made the playoffs, bringing the entire Houston town into celebrations. Their fans hailed the return of players as their saviours and heroes. Now their main offence leader quarterback Matt Schaub has
done the same.
Schaub missed the action last season because he had to be on the sideline with a foot injury. He is expected to lead the team’s celebrations this year. Although T.J. Yates is also a part of the winning side this year, he is more or less an unsung hero at
a backup place for Schaub.
This year, the Texans have an invincible record of 12-2 and with still two more games left to play, they are on the course to finish atop the AFC. Their only other rivals are the Denver Broncos from AFC West. They are 11-3 and with two more games to play
can finish at 13-3, if win both of the remaining games.
If the Texans win one and lose one game they will tie with them at 13-3. If both teams lose their both games, respectively, the Texans can still have the lead in the AFC by finishing at 12-4 against 13-3 of the Broncos.
In another scenario, if the Broncos lose their both games they will finish at 11-5 and the Texans by winning their games could reach at 14-2 points, finishing atop in the conference.
In the meantime, the Texans are celebrating their victory of the AFC South division and playoff berth. Their fans have thrown full support behind them to reach the Super Bowl. They are already on the field as Super Bowl contenders and it will be another
remarkable achievement for them if they are through to the Super Bowl.
