Playpen for a guinea pig?

Question

I want to buy a playpen with a mat so my guinea pig can run around in the house without spoiling the carpet, but for outside every once and a while, i have a pen we made for our ducks and they only go in there at night to sleep, and there food and water is taken out when they leave, so would it be safe to put the guinea pig in there? i'm afraid that the guinea pig would eat the duck p**p, so should i just get the playpen and use it for inside and out?
