I have a Playstation 2 and I play it on my Sylvania 26 in. Widescreen LCD HDTV. The picture seems kind of blurry so i was thinking about getting HD component cables for my PS2.

Will the screen look better even though its a widescreen?

Is it worth getting?

  1. Yes, using component cables should give you a sharper picture than without.  Also remember to go into the PS2 setup and set the video to "widescreen".

  2. the PS2 cannot out put HD quality. doesn't matter what kind of tv you have the picture is not going to look any better.

  3. There is no such thing as component HD cables. There are  component cables but they can be used in component or component HD application. Sony playstation 2 isn't HD anyway so there will be no increase in sharpness but dot crawl should be lessened if you are currently using composite cables (normal yellow coloured video cable). Can the ps2 be set to widescreen mode? If yes then that will make picture look sharper . With the Nintendo Wii this helps quite a bit.

  4. It is not the cables. You need to change the settings in the ps2 and on the lcd to 16:9 progressive scan.
