Playstation 3 Laser Life?

Question

So i read that using the laser constantly will wear it out faster, but they said i should only use it for games or for blu-ray. IF it was IF i said was true why would it matter if i only play games or watch movies?

i always play ps2/dvds/cds. ive had it since 2000

It may wear down the mechanics that produce the laser

but my guess is that PS4 will be out before that actually happens if you know what I mean
