Playstation 3 bluetooth mic problem?

Question

I got to the part on my ps3 menu that allows me to sync my mic to my ps3. The directions say to tap the sync button till the mics little lcd thing turns blue and red, i have tapped it but nothing has happened. i already charged it. it is very annoying.
