  1. The card needs to be verified in some way before it can be used. If you use a credit card it needs to be linked to your home address. Gift Cards and pre-paid cards need to be linked to your address to work. You can try calling the card company to see if they can do that for you.

Also, I'm fairly certain you need more than $4.75 on the card. I think you can only add certain amounts of money unless you checkout with a total of around $20 (not sure of the exact total). Under that amount you can only add fund to your wallet in denominations of $10 (and whatever the other amounts specified are).

I haven't purchased anything on PSN for a while, but thats how it worked the last time I checked. For example, if you just wanted the Rockband songs you'd have to add $10 to your wallet and use those funds to buy the songs. If you purchased a Warhawk expansion pack and a PSN game totaling $20.13 (I made that number up), you could choose to pay the exact amount. The PS Store would take whatever is left in your wallet, and charge the rest to your credit card to make tohe total exactly $20.13.

They do this because credit card companies charge for every transaction. Because of this, tt isn't worth it if people buy in small amounts. Sony wouldn't make any money with online transactions that way.

  2. If it's a gift card, that's your problem. You see, gift cards come prepaid and that's the way they stay until all money is used up so your going to have to use up your money and then add new funds because of the card's money limit. (It's prepaid value).
