I am considering buying a plazma widescreen tv, i would like to put it above my fire place. The only thing is i have a stove, as u can imagine they throw out alot of heat and it goes up the way towards the tv. Would the heat affect the tv in anyway???

  1. it wouldn't affect the tv much. many appliances work individually on their own and the surroundings don't matter. but i advise you let some fresh air in too, coz tv needs ventilation,

  2. Yes it would affect it.Plasma tv's have fans inside them to cool tv down. The heat would cause the fans to work overtime to keep it cool. This would affect the warranty in case of any claims.

  3. I would not risk it. You won't see any immediate effects of the extra heat, but it will definately hurt the total lifespan of your set. Especially with plasmas that run hot to begin with, puttin it above a fireplace is almost ensuring you will have issues with it. Reconcider putting it somehwere else. It would be a shame for your brand new expensive tv to get damaged, which even if you have a protection plan, once they inspect it and realize it was due to excessive heat, it won't cover it. Put it somewhere else, you'll be better off.
