I have recently began running to train for a physical agility test. 2 weeks ago I could barely run because my shins hurt so bad but I have follwed the advice I found on here from other peoples questions and that is no longer an issue now its my ankles. I run about 1/2 a mile then the top front of both ankles become very painful and I have to stop running. I am running on mostly flat hard packed gravel road. Does anyone have any advice? I only have to run a mile and I have a few weeks to do it, its not that I get tired or anything the distance isnt the problem its the pain. Please let me know what you think

  1. The golden rule of running is that one should never run with pain.  You need to see your doctor about your pain because it is unlikely you can damage your ankles only after such a short and (mild?) run.  Also, since both your ankles are hurting, it points to more fundamental problems, maybe some form of arthritis.

    Good Luck!
