  1. Yes - the video has to be in DVD compliant MPEG-2, and there are a number of other issues around file names and locations and disk formats.  Fortunately it's not something that we need to worry about too much, though it's useful to know - get hold of DVD Flick and it will turn your movie file into a DVD.  It's a free app, too!

  2. The video will need to be in a .VOB, but i dont recomended converting it and putting it straight on a disk. i would use something like nero? and this should work. hope this helps.

  3. I agree with the answer above me.

  4. Try downloading it onto a floppy disc and see if that works. If it does copy the floppy disc onto a cd if you can!

  5. If you just burned an .avi, .wmv, .mov, etc. file to a disc, then you have a data disc with files on it, which won't play in most DVD players.

To make a DVD Video disc you have to use a DVD authoring program.  Your computer probably came with one (e.g. Nero, Roxio, Cyberlink, Intervideo, etc.) unless you built it yourself.  There are free programs available too (DVDStyler is one).  Make sure you are in the right mode to make a DVD Video disc and not a data disc.

If you open the DVD disc in windows explorer, and you see the folder "VIDEO_TS" then that is a DVD Video disc and should play on most DVD players.  If you don't have the folder then you don't have a proper DVD Video disc.

Also, make sure you use a DVD-R disc to burn your DVD.  There are other kinds such as DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, etc. which don't have good compatibility with some DVD players.  DVD-R is the safest bet.

  6. Windows MovieMaker can NOT burn a DVD which will play in a standard DVD player - only on a computer - you must use another programme to burn your DVD so that it is in the correct format.
