Hey all!

I received this e-mail from a family which is looking for an Au Pair.

Hello There,

I am Mr.simth willy White 45 Years Old,From united kindom.I work in an fabric company in United state and i dont usually stays home unless during weekends. My contact address is : 1615 W. Abram St. Arlington United States TX 76013. I will like you to know that i have just two kids which name is louis and lorrens they are both boy and Girl they are just 5 and 7 years old Respectively.I want an aupair nanny for them because they are the only one left at home after there mother died in a motor accident And i have an apartment room for he/she that would be taking care of the boy and girl in my house. So i will like you to know that i will be paying you 3,500 dollas for every four weeks and a pocket money of 500dollas per week for the buying of some things for your self and i will also be responsible for some of the money for your traveling documents but you have to agree that you are the one to pay for your flight ticket to the traveling ticket agent. And the working hour is just 8 hours per day and your responsibility in my house is just to take care of my sons, cooking ,taking them on shopping taking them to where the school bus will pick them up from which is just 2 km ahead from home. And also you have a private room batroom toilet and also if you wish to be having free period from 5 pm to 6 pm is acceptable. So i will like you to get back to me if you are intrested in being myaupair nanny for my boy and girl.So i simth...

My question is: do you think it's a fraud? 'Cause if you read it attentively, you'll notice several mistakes in it. First he says that he's from UK and then he writes USA. And don't you think that the salary he offers (3,500 dollars for every 4 weeks and 500 dollars per week) is too much for an Au Pair?

Thanks for helping! I really appreciate it!

  1. As a general rule, when the spelling and grammar are terrible it is a fraud. Especially when it is from a person who is used to speaking both "The Queens English" & "American English". The author or this would probably even s***w up Ebonics if that is even possible.

  2. Sure you answered your own question.

  3. Did you contract with this website previously to provide you with contacts of a family seeking an au pair?

Once you say 'no', then consider all the mistakes in the email, all the inconsistencies and you will know this is a fake email. The fraud comes in when you answer the email.

For future reference if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

btw 1615 Abram Street is a commecial district in Arlingtion Texas, not a residential address. Another mistake he says he has a boy and girl but the au pair would only be repsonsible for taking care of his 'sons'. 2km to bus stop? Too bad there are 2 Arlington public elementary schools less than 2km from the address and you need to bypass the school to get to the bus. :D

Sounds like an invitation for trouble. If you trust the site, forward this email with full headers to their security / fraud department. If not, trash it and forget it.

  4. He must be the Dark Knight, only he that i know of can provide a 'batroom toilet'
