  1. First of all CT is not a bad location to be living in while still "working" in NYC. Millions do it every day. You essentially live GRATIS now I want to assume. Seems a major deal to me.

Certainly getting a job will afford you $$$, but you are still a minor, so some parental involvement in any decision making process, is dictated.

The likelihood of being a Freelance translator is low, but education in any sense will help. Would they consider you attending College in NYC?

You come from a culture, vastly different from those here, but I assume your parents have no REAL intent of keeping you a prisoner. Beyond that, once you are 18, you are pretty much able to NOT worry about being dictated to, within reason.

Have you ever had a sit down with them, asking what their dreams for you might be?

As a "Personal problem" all we can do is offer generalized advice, but as you describe the issues, they far extend from just your desire to ACT.

  2. Before you move to New York, you might want to think about putting yourself in a better position to compete with the thousands of others who have the same dream you do.  You want to start working in theater right now, of course.  But how prepared are you?  Have you studied acting/modeling, so that when you line up with others all auditioning for the part, your portfolio stands out?  You should seriously consider at least a couple of years of study in theater/drama at a college in CT (or even a local community college) first.  I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth.  Not only would the extra training help put you in a better position in comparison to the competition, you would also have the time you need to sort out the other concerns which are involved.

  3. I think Craigslist is a good place to look.  Again, be safe about it.  Take someone with you to visit the 1st time, etc.  My friend just did this and it worked for her.  Good luck w/your career.  Iwascast.com

  4. You will only attract stalkers/ creepy guys posting this sort of thing on a forum! Stay away from internet roomate finder websites.

Speak with the agency you'll be doing your acting/modelling through and get them to arrange your accommodation. Also alot of those agencies are scams. Just taking your money. You should NEVER have to pay upfront. They earn money from the jobs THEY find you.

I was once young and naive. Listen to my advice it could save you alot of trouble and heartache!
