OKAY. To make it easier...

-I submitted all the documents for FAFSA today.

-They said it'll take about 4 weeks for checks to arrive. which is after AUGUST.

-And my FALL tuition is due on August 13th.

-Does this mean I have to pay the tuition for fall with MY money first & then get the Tuition Refund by September or so?

  1. Actually, you are still on time for aid, unlike one person stated. Most likely that person was just not eligible for aid.

ANYWAY, it does take the government atleast 2 weeks to send all your information to the school. Once this has happened (2 weeks being probably the shortest time) your school will package you an award letter that will be mailed to your house or emailed to you. The only thing that may delay this process is if you are selected for verification. So you should constantly check your email/mailbox to see if anything came. You can also call up your school and verify that the school did recieve your FAFSA info after a week or two.

Depending on your school, you will get a refund check sometime during the first week of classes or sometimes it isnt until you are so many weeks into the semester. You can either pay it off ahead of time to make sure you don't get late fees or dropped from classes or check with your school to see if they think it will get processed in time. Most likely they will have your FAFSA info by the time of August 13th, and if you are eligible for aid, they can just put a hold on your account. Hope this helps!

  2. If you filled it out today, you're not getting any aid.  You had to do that months ago.

I filled it out a week ago, and knew I'd receive no aid.  (Did it for the work studies eligibility.)

  3. Talk to your schools financial aid office.

  4. if you get the aid is probably for the next year, spring and summer (the money that was supposed to go to fall goes to summer), in order to get financial aid for fall you have to submit the form before the may 13-15 (that is how it works in my school), if you apply after is for spring, so if you are going to do fall then you should pay for the semester out of your pocket, you do not get a refund, i did the same thing around the same time a year ago but i waited to register for spring because i knew i would pay from my money, talk to someone in the financial aid office, your school may be different than mine

  5. You will either need to pay your bill or ask for an extension.  Many colleges will grant an extension as long as the aid office can verify you will be receiving financial aid, it's just not finalized.  If you do pay your bill you will receive a refund check from the college once your aid is processed.
