Is it harder to dance en pointe if you have wide feet, and easier if you have narrow feet? Or is that just myth?

  1. wide feet are great for dancing en pointe! you have a broader platform to move on.

  2. Myth

  3. Actually, it could very well be the opposite.

Wide feet technically provide a better platform to dance on, but it is not a standard fact.

Each person has learned to walk on their own feet, whether narrow or wide.  It is harder to balance in general on narrow feet than wide feet, but the people with narrow feet are used to that, when walking, dancing, and most importantly, practicing ballet on demi pointe.

it should be just as easy for a wide footed person to dance on pointe as it is for a narrow footed person because that is what they have been used to their whole life.

Now if a narrow footed person were to suddenly have wide feet, it may be easier for them because they are used to the extra balance that narrow feet require.

Hopefully it made sense to you, if not, message me and i will try to help you out!

  4. no and never believe myths! they tell you that if your body is a certain size that you can't do something just to make the world feel bad!

  5. Doesn't have as much to do with the width of your feet.. more the strength of your feet and the flexibility of your arches.

I'd say the number one factor that makes dancing on pointe easier is having strong feet.  Flexible arches are second.  If your arches are fairly ridged you might have a hard time getting the weight properly over your toe and this may cause more strain on your muscles.

  6. No .i have narrow feet and its sorta easy and sorta hard
