Please HELP!!! Clothes dying question???

I have an old pair of blue jeans and i want to dye them yellow or red.

To dye them first i need to remove the color so the new color can go over

How do i bleach or turn white a pair of blue jeans?

  1. RIT dye makes a bleach that you use before you dye but I do not know if the bleach will take out enough for you to get the color you want  if you were going from light to dark it would work. Make sure the water you use for the dye is very hot. add some boiling water to the washing machine. It helps to set the dye  then use cold to rinse.


  2. There is a product by RID brand dye that removes color from clothes but I'm not sure it would remove enough blue  to accept yellow or red.  Be careful with the bleach -- you may want to add it to the full washer, let the machine agitate before adding the jeans.  You may need to bleach them more than once.

    Bleach could actually cause holes in the fabric if the concentration is too great.  Good luck!

  3. I have never made my jeans white however I have made a pair of dark denim jeans white wash by washing them a 2 or 3 times with a couple cap fulls of bleach. I am sure if I continued to do that they would of turned white within a few more washings.
