im trying to do this without putting a curtain and it has to be CHEAP and EASY. 89" by 100" opening in a wall like as it looks. its the opening saperation to my living room. i want to close it up for a room mate. but it does have to have some sort of an opening for them to get in and out. private enough too. I thought about accordion doors but they are not long enough only 80" in height and up to 36" in length and costume made ones are too expensive. The 9 inch gap would be very hard to close up I don’t even know how to start with that one. If you have any ideas that are simple and easy and cheap please help me out. Measurements from floor to ceiling are 103.75inches PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE! My email is mzmail9@yahoo.com

  1. use book shelves with a solid back, that way the top part is still open and airy. then put french shutters or curtains in the doorway.

  2. Hanging something other than a curtain, yet fully flexible, seems like it's going to be the only solution that's cheap. Mount a rod (securely, using molly bolts) high on the wall, above the highest part of the opening, then get creative about what you hang on it. Decorative quilts? Blank or junk-mail CDs glued in a sheet? Thick velvet to muffle sound? A designer rug?

Other than that, all I can think of that won't cost a fortune are folding screens and concrete blocks with a few glass blocks for appearance and light, like that. You'd still need an opening at the end.
