Okay so i'm going into High School this upcoming fall and I need some advice. In eighth grade I slacked off completely and got horrible grades. I know that I need to focus in Highs School and I know I have the brains to do well but the thing is i'm afraid because i'm taking all regular classes and one class over with other students in my grade, I wont get into a good college. My guidance counselor told me I can transfer to honors sophomore year, but will being in regular classes freshman year affec my chances in getting into my dream school pen state? PLEASE HELP!

  1. i dont think you having to take regular classes over will affect your dream. I think that if you focus and study hard and earn a 3.8 or better, you will have a VERY good chance of succeeding and getting into the school you want. Good luck to you!

  2. What is your dream school. Some drean schools such as Harvard and Yale are almost impossible to be admitted into since they turn away very high percentages of applicants. Many other dream schools are much easier.

Colleges look on your 9th grade and above. They look at your GPA, courses taken, extra-curricular and volunteer activities. SAT scores and recommendations./

  3. it will help if you are more consistent. and if you really want this dream then you will get it as long as you try a bit harder. good luck with everything.

  4. You don't need to be an honors student to get into PSU. I'm here now.

Consistency is much more important to a college than classes you're taking. If you work hard and get consistently good grades throughout high school, you'll have no trouble getting in.

You will probably have to start at a branch campus though because a lot of majors take so few freshman into University Park. But you can transfer to UP after 1 1/2 or 2 years.
