Defend the Afrocentric point of view concerning the rise of the Egyptian New Kingdom Pharaohs.

How did New Kingdom Pharaohs exploit their identity to maintain the new state?

  1. I don't think that the Afrocentric point of view, nor the Eurocentric point of view are accurate representations of the cosmopolitan society and culture that characterized New Kingdo Egypt.  

    However, the Egyptians of the New Kingdom were opposed to both the Nubians to the south and the Hyksos to the north.

    Pharaohs such as Sequenenre Tao, Kamose and Ahmose fought a war of liberation against both Asiatics and Africans.

    Their successors, Amenhotep I, Thutmose I, II, and III...carved out empires in Asia as well as deep into Nubia.

    Of course these pharaohs  certainly exploited their identities as beloved of Amon-Re, universal god of Thebes.  With a kind of Egyptian manifest destiny, the pharaohs of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Dynasties created imperial Egypt, and made Egypt a major power of the ancient Near East.
