I have an art appreciation class at college & i have an assignment due tomorrow that I kind of forgot all about. Well its called artist in a box. what i have to do is research an artist and get some information on him. Then i have to find a small box & put at least 8 items in it that relate to the artist in some manner. I need help on what artist to do & some items that can be put into the box for that artist...can someone give me some ideas? if so id really appreciate it.

  1. The quickest one I can think of is Vincent van Gogh.

I'd put a pistol (toy one, I suppose) because in one of his fits he tried to shoot his friend and fellow painter Gaugin.  A razor because he cut off part of his left ear.  A paintbrush and some paints because that's what he did.  A shot glass to represent his use of alcohol, a garter to represent his girlfriend (a prostitute at a nearby tavern, to whom he sent his amputated ear).  A small bag of coins with the name "Theo" on them to represent his brother, who supported him financially since he wasn't able to sell paintings (evidently only one of his sold while he was alive).  And something symbolic of Spain (I'm drawing a blank right now) since that's where he lived for most of his career.
