Please Help I Have A Hermit Crab Problem!!?

I had two crabs and one died and i have one left and he molted like a week a go and he will not go in to a shell!!! he has plenty of shells that he will fit in to. his humidity and heat is good. He has plenty of fresh salt water plain water and food. what is wrong with him why won't he go in a shell!

  1. you have to buy a nother one


  2. it will die if it doesnt live in colony. it cant simply survive by just it self cause it lives in colony start from four.

  3. Sounds like you're doing everything right. That occasionally happens. Put him under a cup with the right sized shell until he ventures in. (Don't leave him there indefinitely, and poke a hole in the top)

    Otherwise pick him up and put his butt into a shell; he may instinctively try to retreat into it. Check out this site, naked crabs are addressed there:
