  1. Mhmm..shut the door and put something under the door because we had lost our hamsters a number of times and closed the door but they can get under the door! Put a towel or a sweat shirt that you dont care about under the door. And like someone said..the bucket and latter is good.

Look under dressers and your bed.

  2. Got the same problem as you - my sister's little friend is on the run at the moment - so she's claimed mine. x

They normally turn up in the end, my others normally did after a while.x

  3. get a jar nd put sum food in it...?!

& lyk leave it on d floor?!

  4. Get a deep dish or sausepan and put alot of hamster food on the bottom of it. The put the pot/dish/bucket on the ground and build a make-shift ladder out of books(ie encyclopedia's or phonebooks).

The theory here is that the hamster will be drawn to the smell of the food and will climb the books and fall into the bucket-unable to get out. This has worked countless times for me in the past(but now i just call  him and he comes running to me ^^).

I would also suggest placing his cage in the bath(empty bath of course :P) until you find out how he's escaping

  5. Put a freshly sliced piece of cucumber (or any other food it likes) in the middle of the floor. The smell will probably lure it out of hiding once it thinks it's safe (be really quiet and still). Prepare a net or a sheet beforehand, so you have something to grab it with.

  6. i heard that when you lose your hamster, put cabbage/lettuce in various places in the house, and keep checking the places

  7. go threw the bedding it could of buried its self thats what my friend hamster did

  8. If you haven't already, shut the door. Sit really quietly and still and see if you can hear anything.

If not, look around, behind things (carefully though, as could crush it if not careful)

Unplug everything in case it chews.

The best way to catch them is just to spend time really quietly every hour or so.  Eventually, it'll make a noise and you can find where it is and just pick it up, or at least know where it is.

leave a little food in every room it could be in, and keep the doors shut tonight.  Tomorrow (if haven't found by then) you'll at least know which room it's in.

Make sure you keep the bathroom door shut permanently until it's found! This is VERY important!

good luck - I'm sure it'll be fine. But you need to work out how it escaped too to stop it happening again!

  9. Put some food in its cage put the cage on the floor open it. Leave the room closing the door behind you. The hamster will eventually come out and back into its safe cage.

  10. My daughter has lost her hamster a number of times. lol  What we do is make the room really dark and sit and watch for him to come out of hiding. My daughter will sit in there, with no snacks or anything out, and the hamster will come out looking for food and come right to her b/c he is hungry. GL! Just keep the door closed, so he can't escape into another part of the house. =)

  11. put his favourate treat in the middle of the room and at night you should hear him eat or stay in your room silently and you should hear him.

    hope this helps

  12. Get a cat in there - it'll soon sniff the little bugger out.

  13. As far as I know there's no magic trick to entice it out. Try leaving a carrot or a snack it likes out by its cage and take another and start looking. They like to hide under beds, behind bookcases and other small, dark spaces. Try looking there.

  14. Look everywhere...

Instead of waiting for people to answer you should be getting a torch and searching under everything. Ensure that your door is shut properly. Hamsters are good climbers so that is how it escaped.

If you dont find it today before you go to sleep put lots of food on the floor or in it cage and it i likely to retrurn and will either stay in the cage or will determine whether he/she is in your room (as the food would have been eaten or taken away).

And if i was you i would start searching NOW. Get off your computer and search

  15. The suggestions by the other people are very good (apart from the cat one!).

I would just like to add that you are much more likely to find your hamster tonight as it is probably suggled up somewhere fast asleep now.  It will be on the move tonight though and will probably scuttly boldy across the floor so make sure you keep your eyes peeled (and be careful where you're walking, you don't want to tread on it)

  16. Well When our Gerbil escaped she was bitting my door. And don't Hamsters have to chew also? Listen for chewing sounds in your room and the next 4.
