This is what I will pack for my 3.4 year old's lunch at school for today;

Peas, and rice, Juice, 1 Cup of Dole Mixed Fruit, and 1 yogurt.

How does this lunch sound? Does it sound filling?

By the way she does not eat meat.

  1. The rice would have some carbs for energy as long as she actually eats it : ) For my 2 and a half year olds lunch I pack:

    - 2  large crackers with vegiemite

    - A tub of yogurt

    - A container of cut strawberries

    - A 15g chocolate

Actually not sure if this is enough as last week she came home for the first time having eaten ALL her food lol. I might pop carrot sticks in there too tomorrow

  2. My son goes to kindergarten 2 days a week and they must think I am so unimaginative because I always have to put the same food in.

He has a ham, avacado and tomato sandwich, a bag of pop corn, an apple, and dried paw paw, mango and pineapple mix. It is a dairy free kindy because one boy is anafalatic to dairy.

Sounds good what you are packing, I would maybe add a packet of pop corn too.

My youngest wont eat meat either so I dont know what I will do when he starts!! lol

  3. I send my son to daycare with things like this:

    Peanut butter and jelly sandwich

Fresh fruit – bananas, apples or strawberries

    Whole wheat crackers

Slices of cheese or sticks of cheese

    Granola bars

Fruit snacks (once in a blue moon)

    Cheerios

    Applesauce

    Cheez-its (sometimes)

    Pretzels

I buy those Dole fruit cups for the times when I have no fresh fruit or when I don’t have time to cut it up. I also make my own lunchables by giving cheese, turkey/ham and crackers. (I know your child doesn’t eat meat but just wanted to add in)

I also pack small baggies of green beans or mixed veggies. I struggle with veggies all the time but otherwise,  my son doesn’t hold back when it comes to eating.

    Good luck to you!

  4. Peas and rice sounds a bit plain :S

  5. Whatever happened to peanut butter and jelly??? She's a kid, she ought to be able to enjoy it.

  6. sounds great but there is no protein....does he not eat meat because you are vegetarian or because he just doesn't want the stuff...add some cheese or some soya nuts...and if he is allowed  peanut butter sandwich...we need protein to fell full and give him energy....

for my son and daughter(6 and3) at daycamp I would give them a meat sandwich,a yougurt,a fruit, fresh veggies(mini tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, pepers),a dessert(granola bar, oatmeal cookie,or a muffin) 2 juices,a bottle of water....yes its a lot most days they don't eat all but I rather they bring some back then to be hungry...at daycamp they always move and play and need the food for energy....when my son goes back to school I usually give just one juice and often instead of a sandwhich I give leftovers in a thermos and either a fruit or veggie...but I give one food from each of the food groups to make sure it is balanced.....he usaully eats it all.....

  7. You should ask her if she is still hungry after lunch.  All kids are different.   Other ideas that are healthy:

    1. Slice of whole wheat bread with organic jelly

    2. Fresh sliced fruit

    3. Baby carrots

    4. pasta salad
