I got a citation in the mail today for underage drinking that happened a week ago. I had a sip of alcohol and registered .01. That's pretty much .00 . Should i plead guilty and pay the fine? Or should I plead not guilty then go to court. (I'm going off to college tmr and its about a 3--4 hr drive which is why im reluctant to come all the way back to go to court) i'll probably get the med fine too as noted at the bottom of the citation. So what will that be? like 100-200?

and yes i know taht drinking is still drinking and i'm sorry. i cant change that now...for all those ppl who are gonna lecture me.

  1. .01 is equal to a single beer, not a sip. A single sip wont even register unless its vodka, gin or something like that.

As far as what will happen. Do yourself a favor and just pay the fine.

  2. Pay the d**n fine and stop asking strangers for answers

  3. It would probably in your best interest to pay the fine and move on.  Fighting it will only cost you court costs and perhaps lawyer fees, if it gets that deep.  It's not that big of a deal aside from the cost of the ticket.  After you pay it, call the court and ask if they have some sort of diversion program that you can attend.  These programs usually allow the charge to be dropped from your record after you have kept your nose clean for a certain amount of time.  Good luck!

  4. No matter if you took a sip or drank a gallon. If you are under the age of 21, and you tested .001, that shows you had been drinking. Pay the fine and go on. My son got the same charge about a year ago and it cost him $150.00 + court costs, 2 years probation and a one day  alcohol awareness class. That was another $35.00. Good luck.
