  1. Looks like the driver file is missing.  try go to settings add hardware and reinstalling the driver file

  2. Check Network connections from the start menu > connections.  If the ethernet is connected it will show here, then right click click and chose connect.  If it doesnt show then you have a problem.  Try system restore, leave aol and install bt aswell, then select bt as default connection...

  3. cut off computer for 30 seconds....then cut it back on and it should work if not sorry

  4. Ok, first of all, if it's windows XP you can go back to a restore point and log in through AOL and get the drivers. If not, you can always use a local library and flash drive to download the drivers to then you'll be able to bring them back to your computer and install them. What is the BT stuff you're talking about?

  5. make sure your not plugging a phone line to the ethernet port. AOL has nothing to do with the network adapter as it is only looking for a server unless it was being connected via modem.

If you look at the back of the PC and you have connected the ethernet cable to the nic adapter and lights are up you know that it is working if not enable the lan by going into windows network. at that point if that don't work reinstall drivers if you know what the motherboard or NIC card manufacturer is.

  6. Your not exactly clear on your details. Have you changed ISP's to BT or not?

Whose modem are you trying to use because some ISPs issue their own modems which will only work on their system?

I don't get what you mean "can't recognise Ethernet (something)"

I've got a rough idea what your on about, but as I said

you've got give a bit more detail.

    Either update or email me.
