  1. If you have permission from the credit card holder to do this then it isn't a crime. However, if you have used someone elses credit card & they haven't given you any permission to do so then it is credit card fraud. That is a crime & could lead to some prison time depending on the severity of the crime & the judge that you get!

  2. theft...

    resulting in prison/fine

or if you impersonated the person who owns the card then identity theft aswell....see above for  punishment!

  3. Fraud if found out . You lose your good name because people who know you will always remember in spite of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Possible prison sentence ot probation. A fine is not much use if they have no money

  4. i think it is called fraud... Just call the police and they will sort it out...

  5. Depending on the circumstances, it falls to be probably charged under the Fraud Act 2006: fraud by false representation, fraud by failing to disclose information, and fraud by abuse of position. The punishment, depending again on the circumstances, will range from a community order to imprisonment.

    Hope that assists.

  6. It's called theft and you go to prison.

  7. Its credit card fraud.

Tell your Bank,  and they will decide wether to call the Police and give you your money back.....maybe..

  8. credit card fraud!  High fines, or a prison sentence....is it worth it?

  9. It's fraud/ deception and theft. 1st offence might get a caution, depends on the amount. Th most likely outcome is a Fine, Probation and/ or a suspended sentence.

  10. I don't quite understand your question:

'so using a credit card which doesn't belong to you..it was used to pay off a debt on his credit card.'

Was the credit card used by someone to pay off a debt on a credit card belonging to the owner of the card used to pay off the debt?  That appears to be what you are indicating.

Or was the credit card used to pay off a debt for someone else?

If this is the case then this would be fraud by false representation which in layman's terms is doing something dishonest, like using a credit card belonging to someone else, that results in the perpetrator benefiting in some way.

As for the possible penalties for this type of crime, its hard to say these days as most crimes result in either a community punishment order or a stay in one of the government run and tax payer funded holiday camps but this is only in extreme circumstances.

The penalty would depend on the full nature of the offence, the previous offending history of the offender, the judge on the day of the trial etc etc.
