Question:

Please Help with My Fantasy Football Team

Below is my new 2008-09 Fantasy Football Team:

QB Drew Brees (Saints)

RB Julius Jones (Seahawks)

RB Clinton Portis (Redskins)

WR Donald Driver (Packers)

WR Torry Holt (Rams)

WR Greg Jennings (Packers)

TE Todd Heap (Ravens)

K Rob Bironas (Titans)

DST Seahawks

QB Phillip Rivers (Chargers)

RB Chester Taylor (Vikings)

WR Ronald Curry (Raiders)

TE Dustin Keller (Jets)

DST Redskins

Looking at this, it looks OK, but I know as soon as I start the season some might not even be starting (Taylor, Jones, Curry), some might not even play (Keller) and some could be injured (Heap). My defenses are solid, but the problems I just mentioned leave a lot of holes. So looking at that lineup, who are some I should get rid of (dropping, trade, etc.) and if I do drop any, what are some ideas for players for me to pick up?

  1. me and u are simialar i drafted jones, because he is the lead , rb at seattle, but people dont like him that much, ur week at rb and wr, with roders at green bay, not sure

  2. It seems you have a good grasp of your players. You have a good starting line up although you are going to run into bye week problems with a short bench.

Look to drop Keller and the Redskins now for added depth at RB and WR. Keller is a great talent but is sitting #3 right now, he is the best TE out of the bunch and should be the starter before the end of the season but is not worth a bench spot when you can only carry 5. A second D is not worth it either with very few bench spots.

RB = Look for C. Johnson who had an amazing run with TEN in the first pre-season game and the TEN coaches can not stop talking about how much of a weapon he is.

Ray Rice - Willis had Knee surgery and that never sounds good for a NFL RB this close to the start of the season.

Ricky Be Ricky Williams is an option with R. Brown coming back from ACL surgery (another one of those RB Knee surgery deals)

DeAngelo Williams looks good and is also taking a leadership role with the team, so expect him to get his chances with Coach Fox on the field.

Having Jennings and Driver on your team is going to hurt you during the bye week. Look to maybe package one of them with Keller or the Redskins to try and add a solid WR. Since you should look into dropping either Keller or Redskins, packaging them will increase your offer even though you were going to drop them anyway. Driver and Jennings both have decent name buzz going for them, so try to trade them now before the season starts. You do have the option of waiting since they don't have a bye until week 8, but I'm not expecting a whole lot from Rodgers in his first year, at least not enough to warrant having both WR's on your team.
