I've asked this before but I didn't get any solutions for my problem..

I know It's a long question but please computer experts this should be a piece of cake for you..

My sister's laptop has suddenly stopped playin any sounds..no songs no windows default sounds not anythin..

when I try playin a song in Real Player I get a message sayin 'Out of memory. You may need to close some other applications to play this content. More information available at the real networks customer support website'' so I go to the website and follow the steps for solving the problem but the same message appears again whenever I try playing any song.

When I try playin a song in Windows Media Player I get a message that says ' WMP encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help' so I click it but non of the problem diagnosis they give me can be correct ( I am pretty sure about that ).

I tried downloadin other media players and it appears like the song is bein played like the timin and the visualization but no sound at all..

Don't tell me check if it's on mute cause it's not..And I checked the status of the sound device in the device manager and it says workin properly..

The same thing happend on my laptop after installin Windows Vista SV1..I noticed it rightaway so I realized it's because of that update..so I uninstalled it and my laptop was playin sounds again..

I thought maybe it's the same problem with my sister's laptop so I uninstalled the SV1 from her laptop but still no sound..

Can any other updates may be causin that on her laptop? If yes then what might they be? If not then what other reason can be causin the sound not to be played?

Btw her laptop is a Toshiba Satellite U300 - 151

  1. She might need to either update her sound drivers or uninstall the sound drivers and reinstall them.  Also if you delete the sound card from the device manager and restart the computer, it will detect it again on restart and this might help as well.  This is a pretty common problem with Vista.

  2. You probably need to update your sound drivers...if they don';t work with the Vista update, it's probably because the update and the drivers are incompatible. Go to the website of your card manufacturer and you should be able to download drivers...make sure to get the newest one.
