1. In tomatoes, red fruit (R) is dominant to yellow fruit (r). A True breeding red-fruit plant is bred to a true-breeding yellow-fruited pant.

A. What phenotypic ratio would you expect to see in the F1 offspring?

B. If two of the F1 plants were bred, what phenotypic ratio would you expect to see in the F2 offspring?

C. What genotypic ratio would you expect to see in the F2 offspring?

2. Construct a punnett square to determine the PHENOTYPIC ratio that you would expect to find in the offspring of the two flies. What is the phenotypic ratio?

Thank you

  1. 1. The cross would look like this:

    RR x rr=all Rr

    A. All the progenies would have a dominant genotype and will manifest the dominant phenotype so the ratio is 1.

    B and C. Rr x Rr=1/4RR (dominant),1/2Rr(dominant),1/4rr(recessi...

    Genotypic ratio=1:2:1

    Phenotypic ratio=3:1

    2. The question I want to ask you are the genotypes of the flies. Without the data no one can solve your second question.

    Hope this helps...
