  1. because some teens just struggle with school and grades. doesn't mean they're stupid, irresponsible or anything like that. some people just aren't cut out for school. they can't manage to sit in a class all day long. grades don't make a person, they don't say everything about a person. they can be the smartest kid ever and just SUCK at taking tests. it happens.

  2. They should because of their immaturity they need to spend more time learning before driving.

  3. well you would be more independent so you could get a job & do your own shopping also some for your parents

  4. Having good grades shows responsibility, people don't want to deal with those who are irresponsible. Driving a car is serious, you are dealing with peoples lives. Good grades is a measuring point adults use to gage how much they can depend on their kids or children in general to be responsible.

  5. because some people are more resposible with things they like...i.e. driving...and not really school. but other then that, there aren't any. my insurance even gives a 400$ discount for good grades.

  6. Grades in school do nor reflect the person's ability to drive a motor vehicle.

  7. Well, good grades do show responsibility, but kids can use their liscenses for good, i.e., driving to the library or to a friends house to study.

  8. You must be the teen with bad grades.

    Here's some excuses:

    1.  You can drive yourself to school

    2.  You can drive to work and help pay some bills

    3.  You can pick up dinner for the parental units on the way home

    4.  You can pick up siblings

    5.  Everyone else has one

    6.  I can't focus on good grades without a car

But here's the reality of it.

    1.  Insurance costs more not only fore you but your parents too

    2.  When you get good grades it shows you are responsible

    3.  Bad grades show lack of attention.. something you need when driving

    4.  Driving is a privilege and is earned when you are a minor

Good luck with that.. and get the grades up!

  9. Because driving skills and chemistry skills are utterly unrelated. None of  the skills taught in schools really have much to do with whether you can drive well.

It's like saying that to become a doctor, you have be good at welding. The two have nothing to do with one another, grades and driving skills.

  10. Ultimately, every parents have the right to decide whether their kids are responsible enough or not to drive and whether their kids are ready to drive or not, regardless of their kids academics in school.  There can be some excuses, regardless of their kid's academics, like maybe their kids need their own form of transportation to go to school or to work because no one is able to take them to and from school or work.

The reality to this problem, however, is how much the insurance premium the parents have to pay for their kids, especially with a new car, compared to how much they pay for themselves.  another problem with this is the insurance premium for the students is also affected by the grades they get in school.  if their kids get a poor grade in school they will have a higher insurance premium rate than students with good grades.  driving is a privilege and a huge responsibility.  the students grade also shows how responsible they are.  if students do not have a good grade, it shows that they are NOT responsible enough to drive.

Assuming you are a teenager who wants to drive, yet does not have the good grades, if your parents does not allow you to drive because of your grades in school, then you are one of the luckiest teenager because there are many teen students who cannot drive to school because their parents either does not want to them to drive at all until they are in college, or cannot afford the insurance premium or even another car for their kid.  if you want to drive, then start of focusing on your grades in school, then hopefully your parent will give you the privilege to get a license and drive.

  11. well now your parents care about your grades a's and b's if you have c d's or f's why should they let you get your license with bad grades. that means that they dont care about you but if they want you to get your grades up then maybe they will trust you

  12. Sorry, i have to agree with your parents. good grades should be a prerequisite. BUT..... good grades for some are bad for others. Your parents have to decide. Obviously they feel that you are not doing your best.

  13. I don't see a reason why they should be able to get the license without good grades.

  14. Because if you are 19 and have S***y grades then it is fine you have the right to have a drivers license just like every one else

  15. if they don't have good grades why are they smart enough to drive?
