Sorry but this is the only way i can explain it:

if u draw a hexagon

join lines from corner to corner, forming a dot in the middle of the hexagon, or a cross..

if this was a 3d model, and you were making it out of MDF, how would you join all the lines (wood) together? would you use a mitre joint? how would you use a mitre joint?

thx

  1. Haven't you asked this question before ?

  2. It sounds like you are asking us to give you the answer to your assignment instead of using your lessons and knowledge to figure it out.

However, yes you need to use mitre joints where both sides of the the joint are at an angle other than a 90 or a 180 degree cut.  To calculate the angle you need to count the sides and divide 360 by that number. In this case each joint will be 60 degrees and therefore your mitre cuts will be 30 degrees for each side of the joint.

So you would cut both sides of each structure side on a thirty degree angle and your structure will be six sided and fit tightly together.

  3. Yes, the joints would need to be mitered.  Otherwise, you'll have gaps at the seams.  You'll need a mitre saw to cut that, and even then it takes some practice.  Do you know a carpenter?  He/she would have the tools you need, and maybe you could do a return favor for them.
