  1. I don't care.... I will shoot anyone who comes on my property. Malitias will be the one fighting for your freedoms. Scratch that. We will be fighting for ours. The rest of you will hand in your copies on the U.S. Constitution. Go willingly now, like sheep to the slaughter....

  2. It's a good idea. If we get enough support, it can happen.

It does seem a no-brainer. That's probably why it's doomed.

Of course, we should do away with pennies and nickels too, but don't look for that to happen any time soon either, even though it would save the country millions and would hurt nobody.

  3. Are you familiar with the concept of mob rule?  The founders of the country were, and that is why there is an electoral college.  Read up on the French Revolution to see how mob rule worked for them.

  4. Sorry, I agree with the electoral college.  It assures that no handful of particular regions have the ability to override the general desires of the entire nation.  Just look at any presidential election map and you'll see why.  There are a small handful of states that are highly populated and they could easily overwhelm the smaller states with a lower population.  The founding fathers were very wise and meticulous in why they included the idea of the electoral college in the Constitution.  Read the Federalist Papers and it explains it very well.

Another suggestion... that web site is pathetic.  I wouldn't donate a dime to an organization that represents itself so sloppily.  It doesn't even provide any information to support the view of the "organization" other than they think it is a good idea.

  5. I would oppose this completely.  If you abandon the electoral college systems then the 5 largest states would elect the president - effectively disenfranchising the voters in the other 45 states.

The electoral college requires that a candidate pay attention to everybody - not just the people who live in a few states.

  6. Wrong. If anything, states should start establishing electoral colleges. Living in Michigan, I know just what "direct democracy" would do to the United States.

Rather than having the entire country's interests represented, you would end up with a few larger population centers (California for example) dictating the direction of the country, while smaller and less populous states (for example: Wyoming) would not gain any kind of representation.

Just to give you an idea... In 2004, the vast majority of Michigan's counties went to George W. Bush. However, between 8-14 of those counties went to John Kerry... the vast majority of those in Detroit. So, because we relied on "direct democracy" to determine who got our electoral votes in the first place, Detroit completely overruled the rest of the state's will. Similar situations arose in Pennsylvania, and a number of other states.

When I didn't understand the issue, I really thought that direct democracy would probably be the best way to go, but now, after studying it, I understand why the Founding Fathers put the electoral college into place at all... because tyranny of the minority is just as dangerous as tyranny of the majority.

  7. In addition to the march a public  designing of alternate currency based on trades people's designs  at the DC march may be good.  Non Partisan in that it would represent each group plus indicate feelings. The currencies could provide an alternitive to Govs, votes, and Electoral colleges.
