  1. What is the room temperature ur maintaining & how? if u have installed Airconditioners or heaters adjesting the temperature will give u a good saving. Computers & Fax machines you can switch off when not required but the saving will be minimum. Refregerator setting should be medium.

Lights u can use CFL Lamps but should choose the correct wattage & colour (840 / 865). Major savings will be from ACs , Heaters etc.

  2. Cut down the lights. u can probally turn off half of the lights and the office will still be bright enough. if u noticed, some Wal-Marts cut down half of the lights in the stores and the store never got darker. it looked just as bright!!! TURN OFF THE COMPUTERS WHEN NOT USING THEM, they waste alot of electricity.

  3. Here's the perfect article on "Going Green in Your Office":

    Good luck!

  4. Go down to 2 day work week.

  5. There are many things you can do, but the most efficient way is to ask for a power audit.

Many power company now offer this service. (I remember FPL does, in Florida) They would come to your office and tell you what is eating up the power. They can advice you if you should change the appliances or computer, if you should install timer for certain area and so on. They are usually free or deductible from the bill. Some home improvement stores also offer specific advice like such.

As per computers, screen savers are always no-nos. Instead, set it to energy save mode after 5-10 minutes of idle. Turn them off at the end of the day.

  6. Work hard.  Increase the production output of your office.  This will increase the ratio of production to energy consumption and you will also be promoted past your co-workers.

If you run around trying to save a few pennies worth of energy you'll simply annoy your employers.

Annoying your employers is not how to get ahead, BTW.

  7. use the energy star setting on your monitors, put the lights on a timer, use energy misers, encourage all staff members to be vigilant of any unnecessary items left on when they are leaving for the day.

  8. If you are using deskstop, pls ask your staff to shut it down before going home (some employee just turn-off the monitor but never shutdown the CPU). During lunch break, ask your employee to turn off the lights not unless they need to do urgent work.

  9. A simple one would be to turn off the lights, computers, copy machines, printers, etc. at the end of the day...

In the bathrooms, install motion sensors so the lights turn off when the bathroom is unoccupied, and switch on when someone enters.

If your office is still using incandescent bulbs, switch to the compact fluorescent bulbs...

If everyone did a little, the cumulative savings would be huge.

  10. I can only think of 2 ways...

1.Off any appliance after you have used them

2.You could use energy saving lights

  11. Definately switch to the compact flourescent lightbulbs.  Also you may want to replace your refrigerator with an energy star one.  Check with your state to see if they have programs available to take your old one away.  It is also a good idea to turn off all the computers and machines at the end of the day.  Hope this helps!

  12. Use a pencil

  13. I can think of one way they can get rid of at least 1 computer.....

Get rid of the guy that is more worried about the offices energy consumption than the companies profitablity.

  14. Turn ALL the computers off at the end of each work day, install energy effecient bulbs in all fixtures, use recyled paper, turn the thermostat down 2 - 5 degrees. Not one of these will affect the people working in your office, but you will definitely see a difference in your monthly electric Bill.
