I'm tired of girls[upperclassman] on my volleyball team bring me down. I think I'm a pretty decent player but I do mess up. We sometimes scrimage each other with a mix jv and varsity girls on each team. When I play with them they just bring me down. Yelling at me, blaming me for everything just because I'm a freshman. But when they mess up, they make it seem like it's okay they even sometimes laugh about it. I'm the kind of person who doesn't play well if I have something on my mind. Like today from the start this one girl was already being a ***** to me so I had that in my head the whole time and I couldn't focus. I need you guys to motivate me. Help me figure out a way to tune it all out and just ignore it. How to shake it off when I mess up? The more they bring me down the worse I play. Urgggh. I'm just tired of it. I want to show them I am really a good player. Not just a "stupid" freshman.

  1. i used to play soccer when i was in high school... i know how hard it can be sometimes... do what they do dont listen to stupid comments.. laugh about ur mistakes.. and try to give ur all to the game.. its always going to be like that .. so learn how to be a beatch urself sweety..... they either want to tough you up by being that way or they are just scandould like that... be strong .... and have in mind that u are who u are and its not going to change and if they dont like it then too bad for them

  2. hmmpmh know what i can find myself in  you.. because i was only like you when ii first started playing volleyball.. all my upperclass(professional) teamates always criticicing all my footworks,..all even my hands.. i want to quit then, they never welcomed me as a memebere then, but i just ignored them and pursue my passion on playing.. then, that experiece made me realize that we are being discourage not only to lose hope but to be  stronger and to prove them that you join in their team to learn something and help.. and to prove them that you can also be one of them.. just think positive.. and dont forget to believe in yourself and your talent.. and speially trust the Lord..

  3. If I were you, I would talk to the team captain, or who ever on the court that has enough power and leadership, about your feeling (if she is nice enough like me). I know usually freshman got ignored, but it is not always that bad. I would normally throw a joke to "distract" others in order to give the young player a break before everyone starts storming on her.

For you, it is more about focusing on your own game without thinking too much about what others would be talking about. Once you show them some of your tricks (diving, blocking, ace serving), they would show more respect to you.

    The bottom line is:

    BE YOURSELF

You don't need motivation from us, as your teammates ARE motivating you.

  4. dude! i understand that ur a girl and are more emotional, but i tell this to my girl friends too... shut up and play ur best...

  5. First ask yourself why your playing. If your just trying to impress a bunch of immature players, then your already in the wrong mindset. If you can't focus on yourself and tune other things out, then forget about it.

Next time you mess up, don't even look at anyone, you don't need their confirmation that you messed up. Get up, walk to your spot, glare across the net (intensity) and think only about what you did wrong, play the next point differently, improve, have fun, enjoy the game. With that attitude, you won't be affected by others. As you improve, others will start to respect you. Then when others mess up, talk them up, pull them off the ground, be the better teammate/ person.

Just remember...your a freshman, so your ceiling is higher than the upperclassmen, play like you belong...cause when that ball is in play and when you are on that court, you have responsibilities at whatever position it is that you play. Think only about that and their will be no good reason for anyone to bring you down...even if you mess up.

Ultimately you will be an upperclassmen one day. Ask your self how good will you be by then? How good will your team be? If you truly care about vball and winning, you will work hard just thinking about that. And when the day does come that you are a junior/senior, be sure to bring up the freshman, encourage them to make more plays, let them be able to focus on the next play. A team like that would win more games and have more fun wouldn't it?

  6. Just play for you, believe in yourself, dont worry about what anyone says, do it for you....

  7. yah right..

same thing happen to my team now..

then i think mines is more worst than ur situation..

coz like i was already playing in the my country before for 2 years and then when i move here like last year my 9th grde year like i dont try out and i just try out last sem so it seems,, like im just a new in the jv team..

and then like i dont realy talk to them but sometimes i want to coz like i dont realy speak fuently english which is so obvious(right now)..

then just try ur best and show them wat uve got ok??..

dont worry ur not the only one feels like that..

    nevermind about them..

    ok??..

    just do wat u can..

and gud luck in ur game..

    hope it helps..

just mesage me if u need to talk or something..

    take care..

  8. Hi! ok so 1st off, take a deep breath and relax. I understand what your going through, last year, more or less the same thing happened, and how i got through it? well 1st off, ur a freshman, and youm already made the team, that should give you confidence, and motivate you! they wish they eneterd the team at your age. In my case, my specialty is serving..and the way i wud blow off the steam, is by serving really hard when there was a game between us during practice, i was so mad at them, that i would serve lyk 10 times and no one could get the ball, whatever your specialty, wether it be spiking or serving, use that anger and turn it into a hard hand!! They will respect you when they see you rnt just a stupid little freshman, which you arent, so head up high! play the sport you love!! And be positive!!

p.s: 4 the shaking it off thingy, every1 makes mistakes, thats my prolem, i never let it go, just relax, and think, another  ball is coming my way, and if im pissed off, well then, i wont that 1 either.

    hope it helped!! good luck!

  9. Try not to listen to them.  They are trying to affect you and they are.  The worse you play, the higher they think they are.  If you play poorly, you are not likely to replace them.

I would take it as a challenge.  I would use those players to make you get motivated to play better.  Do not dwell on your mistakes, everyone makes mistakes.  The only players that do not think they make mistakes are either dreaming or delusional.  How you handle your mistakes is the difference.  (I always get very mad when I make a mistake.  But only for a second.  I will then take a deep breath and stare at the server.  I WANT the next ball.)  You know that they want to make you mess up.  And until tomorrow, it is working.  The more they try to mess with you, the more you take a deep breath and concentrate.  If it works, you will make them upset and they will start messing up.

  10. hey, so 1st off sorry your dealing with that.. when i was a freshmen the coach was moving me up to Var, and the same thing happened to me. you feel like since your a freshmen you have something to prove to the upper class (well thats how i felt) and it put more stress on me then me jus playing my game.. so the way i see it.. you are on the team for a reason... the coach sees talent in you. and you must be good to be on the team =D

and the upperclass must see you as a threat,.. jus like the movie mean girls =D lol but really, your jus a freshmen, got a lot to learn and it took me till my sr year to egnore all the BS talk from the team. you listen to your coach.. and everything your team says. let it go in one ear and out the other

maybe you should try, everytime they get you upset or something. take that to your serving..take your frusteration on the ball.. serve harder, or hit harder.... and when you make a mistake. dont beat yourself up for it, but learn, look at your mistake and adjust yourself so it wont happen again

jus memeber. your on the team because you are good... and your playing for you and the love of the sport...

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
