IDENTIFY THEFT AT GROUPLY.COM

There is a message going out to different Yahoo Groups advertising and

suggesting that you join a new group called GROUPLY. This group claims

to help manage all your Yahoo groups and you will get a summary, at the

end of the day, telling you what is going on in all your groups.

IF YOU JOIN THIS GROUP they use your Yahoo ID and password to post

"mass mailings" (can be junk, can be porno) and send them to anyone, and

since it's YOUR ID they are using, others will think it is coming from

you.

For instance, you could get an email CLAIMING that it came from

"whatever" Yahoo Group and it really is not from that group. I

could get an email, with this mass mailing, claiming it came from me,

and it wouldn't have been from me.

Again, IF YOU HAVE JOINED THIS GROUP called "GROUPLY"

IMMEDIATELY Leave the Grouply then

go into your

http://groups. yahoo.com/ mygroups

and change your pass

  1. There are a few new Yahoo groups whose topic is about Grouply but they only discuss the pro's and con's regarding how the Grouply.com website issues as related to their Yahoo groups.  Those specific Yahoo groups are NOT doing all of those bad things you have heard about at all.

Star, since you are a Yahoo group owner, you can join a very informative group whose members are group owners/moderators like yourself.  There have been some lively discussions about Grouply.com which include a representative of Grouply.  You would get real facts instead of rumors. Here is the link:

There's a lot of rumors going about on Yahoo - some true and some not true- about the Grouply organization/website itself.  Personally I would not register with Grouply because I prefer not to reveal my Yahoo ID and password to Grouply (which is required).  Doing so would allow them to access my total Yahoo account info plus access to any and all groups of which I am a member. There are a lot more issues with Grouply too numerous to write in an answer.

You are correct regarding the changing of Yahoo passwords.  If anyone has registered on the Grouply.com website, they can unsubscribe if they wish.  If they choose to do that, they definitely need to change their Yahoo password first to stop the transmission of their group activities.

  2. I have joined Grouply- all it is, is a mail provider much the same as incredimail. the above is all untrue and shouldn't be forwarded to anyone.

no one should spread such things around unless they have checked it out and confirmed it.

it's also not a 'group' at all.
