  1. Cycling. You don't have to race. There are bicycle groups that have regular outings and only go at the pace of the slowest member. You get to explore the quieter places, back lanes and Sustrans trails in your area. You will soon make friends and have the added benefit of healthy exercise. This is mainly a summer evening activity and Sundays in the winter but by then you should have a circle of friends to socialise with.

You could also try botany or birdwatching or marine life if you live near the sea. There will be groups in your area interested in these or if you want to be more active the conservation volunteers who clear noxious weeds, build walkways and make other improvements to wildlife areas.

  2. Maybe golf or bowling would be for you.

  3. If you are in to crafts etc. you can always take up ceramics.  They usually have classes that are very inexpensive and there are people of all ages.  Both men and women from children to the elderly.  You can start out learning how to do

ceramics and there are also ceramic shows to enter.  You meet a lot of people and the nice thing about the classes you

are always chatting and having a good time while doing something fun.

  4. scouts? cadets? i made loads of friends through scouts as a kid some of them i still see around and hang with.

  5. If your looking for in real life friends, i'd go with a sport.  I started playing football as a goalkeeper and have become really good, I now meet up with one set of friends on sundays, one set of friends on wednesdays and another on mondays, football has really been a massive social opportunity for me.

If your looking for any sort of friend. I'd go with a MMORPG.  I've met far more friends through this hobby although its awful addictive.

  6. You should try www.ScraplessBooks.com --they are the best when it comes to digital Storybooking.

It is all online, no software to download. You can start from scratch with a blank book, or use one of hundreds of professionally designed templates with any and every theme imaginable.

With a template, the entire book is pretty much already designed for you, but has spaces left out for your own pictures and text. Also, templates can be changed, they are not permenant--if you don't like the particular button or ribbon or whatever, you can delete it or exchange it for something else.

This is also much cheaper than a traditional scrapbook. You pay $20 for a month's use of the online library of over 60,000 pieces of artwork including backgrounds and embellishments, quotes and texts, and more. Then you pay for the book itself. The books run in all sizes and price ranges, with the 5x5 being $29.95 and the 12x12 being $79.95. And, these are not the cheap, impersonal books you find all over the internet and in every store these days either! These are quality, library bound, hand stitched, hard-back, custom books.

The price does not go by how many pictures or embellishments you use--use as much or as little as you want. Each book comes with a standard 21 pages and you pay $.99 per page after 27 pages, and each is expandable up to 99 pages.

You will not find a better, easier, better quality, cheaper way of scrapbooking. Period.

Plus, since you are looking to meet new people, you could always consider becoming a consultant, creating and selling your own templates, and/or creating book, invitations, cards and more for people. Make friends while you make money.

  7. go and join some of the email groups.

  8. Well, if you are good at sports I would say choose one or two that are your favorite and do that.  Sports are awesome because you are in a "team" setting which creates really strong bonds.

If you hate sports then I would suggest thinking of something you love to do/ are interested in (such as comic books, hacky sack, running, etc.) and then do it.  If you pick an activity you love to do you will most likely make the type of friends that are compatible with your personality.

    just a thought...

  9. theater camp

    baseball

    art camp

  10. If you are artistic and enjoy crafts, you could try scrapbooking which is really a lot of fun.  Or join a pottery class or greenware where you buy the already made greenware sculptures then paint them and have them fired.  These can be a little expensive for the equipment, stock etc.

You could join a Netball team indoor or outdoor.

If you like to sing, you could see if your community has a community or church choir you could join.

Hope some of these can be of some help.

    Good luck and have fun.
