Please advie me on the right tourist neighborhood in buenos aires specially for middle range hotels?

we need to know the correct neighborhood to look for hotels that woudl be close to the heart of the city and at a walking distnce from the maximum number of toursit attractions

I've been 7 times there, I also lived and worked there for 3 years. The best ones are either Recoleta or Puerto Madero. I stayed in Lois Suites in Recoleta, a very nice hotel (5 stars) but recently I changed to Puerto Madero which is a very trendy area with nice hotels like Hilton or Faena (this one very NYish, very modern) Persoanlly, I would stick to Puerto Madero and stay there, it is very central and within walking distance. However, let me tell you that taxis are great in Buenos Aires, those black and yellow with a meter so dont be afraid to catch one.
