  1. Cavities don't hurt. Just TICKLES! hehe.

  2. I have had my share of cavities and really it does not hurt. If you ask for happy gas you will be fine. They also numb your gums so your nerves in your gums don't get irritated. If you tell your dentist it is your first time he will help you and the shot type thing they give you is nothing. It is a little pinch. and be thankful. many years ago they did not have all this stuff to help them. hope this helps. and one more thing, there is nothing to be afraid of.

  3. No cavities do not hurt unless they go into the nerve. But a small one on the outside of the tooth will not hurt you. They may not even have to get you numb if the cavity is small enough. But even if you need anesthetic they will give you some numbing jelly on a q-tip first so the needle doesn't hurt as bad. Then they get you numb with the anesthetic. Once you are numb they will take out the cavity and fill it with a silver or white filling. The whole process takes les than 20 minutes. I'm positive.

  4. don't worry, you'll be fine! almost everyone gets cavities and it really doesn't hurt at all to get them filled, just tastes kind of bad!  I promise it doesn't hurt so don't stresss. Besides, i'm sure you have wonderful teeth! :)

  5. An untreated cavity will eventually rot out the tooth and may even cause an abcess. That will indeed hurt like all the devils in h**l drilling a hole into your jaw. Compared with that, getting a cavity taken care of at the dentist is a walk in the park.

  6. No, it doesn't hurt too bad. I had two fillings last fall, and it hardly hurt at all. And I consider myself a big sissy--I never get flu shots because I don't like the needles! But the dentist is usually careful to pinch the gum or cheek area where they inject the numbing stuff, and it just feels kind of like a pinch. I would call it uncomfortable, but not painful. And the drilling, you will feel pressure but not pain. If it does start to hurt, then raise your hand a little and let them know. They will either wait for more numbing to take effect, or give you another little dose of medication to numb the tooth further. Don't be scared, a good dentist won't hurt you. It helps if you just relax and plan on being slightly uncomfortable, but not in pain. Last time when they were drilling, it hurt just a little, but I sort of made myself wait and see if it got better, and they were done soon, so I was glad I hadn't made them give me another dose. Just let them know how you feel, and they'll take care of you. Good luck!

  7. No Cavities don't hurt.
