  1. Why not just tell the story of the grasshopper and the ants.

  2. Have her tell the story of Fern Gully. It's a cartoon with the voices of Robin Williams and Christian Slater, and it deals with deforestation of the rain forest. You can get a synopsis of the film on the net, and I'm sure at one point it was a book.

  3. Why can't she make up her own story?

  4. Yeah I have a great site, it's called a LIBRARY they have THOUSANDS of books there.

  5. Call your local library.  They will be happy to talk with you about age appropriate stories, stories that may have been used recently at schools in your area, stories your daughter will find interesting, or most any questions you have.  Good Luck.

  6. Look through the old childhood favorites.  The turtle and rabbit race "slow and steady wins the race" or the tortoise and the hare what ever you call it.

  7. Tell her this:

    The Milkmaid and her Pail

There was a milkmaid milking a cow. She put the pail of milk on her head and said " With this milk I shall make cream and sell the cream to the market and they will make it to butter and the butter will be sold to a king and I will buy a fancy new dress to go to the ball, and the men will adore me but I will be so poised I shall just whip my hair and smirk"

After saying that the milkmaid whipped her hair and the pail fell off ruining her plan.

Moral: Don't count your chickens before they hatch

These two sites are loaded with kids stories, and all of them have a life lesson in them. Some are even flash animated.
