Yesterday I accidentally dropped about 3/4 of my digital camera in a pool. I dried it and took the batteries out. It wouldn't work for a while, but then it started working. I can take and upload pictures, but I can't use some of the buttons such as the "zoom out", and up and down arrows. How can I get them to work, and will they ever work again? I don't want to tell my parents, I'll get in so much trouble. Please, please help me!

  1. Dry it out and it might start working again...maybe a blow dryer, or the sun....Otherwise hope it was insured.

  2. Tell your parents. It'll be easier now then for them to find out later.

Then you won't be back in here in 6 months asking how you can get your parents to trust you again. Own up to it and take responsibility for your actions. It's a sign of maturity.

  3. Oooops

There's nothing you can do, You damaged alot of the internal elements of the camera. The whole camera has to be serviced, but due to the severity of the damage, it'll probably cost about the same as getting a new camera..

you don't have much choice, but to tell your parents, if they love you, which i'm sure they do, they will understand, and love you enough to forgive you. Look around, get a job, try to pay them back, or get another camera. After all, they MADE you, and i'm sure they'll understand.

    GOOD LUCK

  4. Accidents happen, if you weren't being careless or goofing off, you shouldn't have to worry.  I would hope your parents would be understanding.

If you didn't have permission to use the camera, then it's best to just own up and show them that you're being responsible for your actions.

The other parts may dry out as well and begin working, but it's hard to say.

  5. well you might messed one of the wires leading to the buttons

(by short circiting it and you might want to take it a part and dry it but be verry careful and take the batteries out before you do that hop you don't get in trouble:)

  6. i figured this would be a common sense thing but i guess not.  NO they will most likely never work again
