Please answer this question a s a p....?!?!?

I woke up this morning w/a very red eye. My hub says I broke a blood vessel but it looks like it's getting worse. I feel ok but have a bit of pressure in my head. What causes a blood vessel to break in your eye? TY....need to know....♥

The number one cause is:  no apparent reason.  Of course, if you rubbed it in your sleep, coughed or sneezed heavily, vomited, picked up something heavy...anything that might put pressure on the eyes, you can break a vessel.  If there's no pain or vision loss, just put a cool compress on it twice a day and used preservative free artificial tears from the drugstore 3 or 4 times a day.  It should resolve within 7 to 10 days.  If there's pain or vision loss, go to the doctor.  If it happens again, go to the doctor.  There could be a more serious underlying problem...

I am sure there are a few different explanations out there for these symptoms. However I would suggest going to see an eye care professional if this persists especially if you feel pressure in your head.

well blood vessals can pop by straining your eyes really hard to see something or looking to far up/down/or to the side without moving your head....OR something could have got in your eyes..or poisen oak anything like that...you should get some eyes drops try ( Opcon-A ) my momma pops blood vessals all the time and it works for her..i hope i helped and answered all you needed to know..i wish you the best with your eye..god bless you!

Hi Forever It looks like you have a great anwer from the Eye Doc . I have personally broken a vessel in my eye 2 x It just looked really bad and no real pain . I had some strain to the eye from a cold and I was having coughing attacks and I broke the vessel.  I hope it gets better soon. please take care. Hugs and Prayers. Your friends Sug
