Quiz Question: In an Island the natives lie and visitors speak truth. A man wants to know whether a salesman beside him in a bar is a native or visitor. He asked him to ask a woman beside him whether she is a native or visitor. He replied, "She says she is a visitor". Then he knew that the salesman is a native or visitor. The salesman is in which category, native or visitor?

He's a native.

The salesman is a visitor. If the woman in question were a native, she would have said that she was a visitor. If she were a visitor she would have said that she was a visitor too.  Therefore, by conveying the only possible response, the salesman proves that he is also a visitor.

The salesman is a visitor. He specified 'she' when he replied, and would have been unable to correctly indicate gender if he were lying.
