Question

when a kid whos 13 whos a girl goes to a foster home do they look at her teeth and in her hair and everything to make sure shes clean enough or anything??

I know that they may ask her about her teeth, but they should contact a dr and dentist for a full checkup, but they  should never be allowed to do the personal check themselves...

No way!  If you must get a physical, then a doctor will handle it. If this young lady is finding that the foster parents are asking unusual things or looking in places on her that they shouldn't then she needs to contact the social worker FAST!!

All of the no touch things she was taught as a child apply here as well!

she is not a show pony...they may want a check up down professionally by a DR...I would say it was a form of intimidation?

The 13-year-old needs to talk to her social worker. That is odd behavior for a foster parent.  She should be in a safe (protected) and happy emotional environment. That just screams that something is not right here.

To offer a different perspective, I can see the reasoning behind looking at a new foster child's hair.... headlice.  

Checking for headlice is routine when children/adolescents enter a psychiatric hospital or residential treatment center.

As for the teeth... dunno... unless they wanted to see if there was any emergency dental work that needed to be done.  

But I wouldn't be too concerned with checking hair for headlice.  It's a reasonable precaution, though the foster parents should have explained the reasoning for it.

Head-lice check is my first thought about the hair.  I check my own children's hair frequently, just in case.  The teeth...maybe to see if you were hiding anything in your mouth???

A physical exam by a doctor/nurse/dentist seems most appropriate to me.  I would have asked questions...and would definitely report these things to your social worker as soon as possible.
